I think podcasting will soon offer new business models with actual revenue generation, rather than just marketing applications.
I believe we’re on the way to creating a business model for podcasting - learning Chinese (and soon other languages) through podcasts. This includes a system of direct revenues from the medium. Have a look: http://www.chinesepod.com
